Friday already!!!!

Last day already and I can't believe it! The day was about coming up and presenting our own business plans using the information that we had obtained over the week. I worked with Heini on this and we came up with the idea of selling stuff on eBay for a profit and buying stuff on eBay and charity shops! I really enjoyed the day as it gave me the opportunity to use the information I had obtained into my own benefit and it was great. It was also very interesting to hear everybody else is idea and the way they intended to make it a success.

The last evening had been kept a secret from us all and no one had no idea what was going on but I knew that's friend from home-Llinos was coming up as she ha been on the spring seminar! When the time came we found out that we were having a wedding. As Nicola(wedding planner) went around the circle with the cards to tell each and everyone of us who we were at the wedding I could not believe that although I was near the end that the bride hadn't been chosen and surely enough I had this great opportunity! The arrangements were made and I had a hen party (including a stripper!!!). It was a shame that we had to say bye to Alma before the wedding. The wedding went on and I had a great time and I was shocked when stuart (on quiet man) stood up and said that he loved me-this made me laugh lots! Then we had a reception and the food was great before preceding with the evening and having the first dance was very special. I don't think the last night could have been better if we had tried. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed and had great fun!

One final surprise I had this evening was to see all the photos of the welsh dragon that I thought someone had stolen during the international buffet but I was happy to be reunited with him!!!! Haha!

It was emotional having to say good bye to people throughout the evening/early morning but I was glad that I could have a quick sleep before adventuring back over the boarders. I made friends for life during this seminar and I am in regular contact with a few individuals which is great. I could not have asked for a better experience and everyone got on really well and the prep team did a great job of organising everything for us.

Big thank you to the prep team and also to Yfc for giving me this most amazing opportunity that I will never forget. The fuzzy notes are also read regularly to remind me of the amazing people that I met. Thanks again.

Thursday already

Yesterday afternoon we gave presentations to the businesses and it was very successful and I hope that our ideas helped them with their problems. I then walked up Malvern hill, wasn't looking forward to this when the rain was coming down on the afternoon but it cleared up and the view was rather amazing with the lights from the near towns. I was glad to get to the bottom as it was very steep.

Just come home from our trip to Worcester where we went to the cathedral. I thought the cathedral was very interesting and I was amazed with the work that had gone into the cathedral to make it look so interesting! Had a nice meal with a group of the prep team and participants. Got on the train after lunch and then I had the option to get the mini bus or to walk back up to the hill, I had sore feet and I am very tired so I decided to take the lift!
In the afternoon we had two business men in to talk to us, nick and john who were very interesting and had completely different methods to ensure that their businesses were successful.
The evening was entertained by young farmers and was lots of fun. I really enjoy taking part in activities and it's interesting to see the different games that clubs have-will definitely be taking some of the games back home. Might leave the three man lift!!

Wednesday 16 October 2013

Yesterday was very busy-that's why I did not manage to write a blog.  The Morris dancers were very good and entertaining and I really enjoyed our evening with them! This is the beat night so far on this seminar! This did lead to me struggling yesterday morning but off we went on buses to visit three different businesses. Firstly we visited a shop and post office- hopes of long town, here we met Christine hope and I thoroughly enjoyed. We then made our way to White Haywood farm restaurant where we met Phil and Pauline and we had great food here, if was very tasty!! Lastly we visited wiggly wiggles who were very interesting with both sides to the business-the bird feed and flowers. I was very tired on the way home and we called for an ice cream which was massive. We met Hereford young farmers members last night and played some good games. Was a very interning day and I thoroughly enjoyed and I lash learnt a lot about individual businesses and their problems.

It is Wednesday today and I am very tired but working hard on trying to solve wiggle wiggles is problem with maintaining the profitability of bird seed. We are currently working on the presentation of introducing our ideas to Phil's problem. Hope it all goes well when we present out ideas to Phil later on.

Monday

It is now Monday, had a fab afternoon yesterday team bonding with the team - all I can say is, it's lucky I don't mind getting man handled and pushed through gaps in rope and holding on to random people on top of a pole - great fun.  Last night was also great with the International Buffet - tasted some great food from all over Europe and some interesting drinks!!!!

The sessions about business entrepreneur has just finished and I have learnt that it takes a risk taker, innovation, leadership and inventor to be entrepreneur.  When presentations were given about different successful entrepreneurs it became clear that they hadn't all been successful from the beginning and they had not had the easiest start to their businesses but by now they are very successful and wealthy.  We then had discussions about business plan with two people from Natwest and this was very interesting - never knew what was needed in a business plan but now I do and it requires a lot of work and research. The quote of the day has to be 'Failing to prepare is preparing to fail'.

Now I am looking forward for the folk dancing tonight - I'm sure this is going to be lots of fun, Heini and I both hope that our traditional dancing skills will come in handy!!!

Sunday - first day

Hi my name is Angharad Thomas and I am representing Wales Young Farmers Club.  I am a member of Vale of Towy Club located in Carmarthenshire.  I am currently the club's chairman.

I enjoy socialising and taking part in all kind of activities and competitions.  I have represented my club, county and country on many different occasions and my highlight has to be winning the National Junior Stockman of the Year in Stoneleigh.  If you have not already noticed I do like to laugh a lot and have fun is key in whatever I do.

I am looking forward to the rest of the week where I will hopefully get to know other people on the seminar better.

Got to go - team building now......
